School project bidding to tee up future champs

By Shi Futian | China Daily | Updated: 2018-10-12 07:41

Despite the achievements of world-beaters Feng Shanshan and Li Haotong, golf remains in its infancy in China.

In the hope of churning out more talent like former women's world No 1 Feng and Li, the first Chinese male to crack the world's top 50, the China Golf Association is sharpening its focus on the junior ranks.

The CGA on Thursday announced a unique partnership with Beijing's Hong Ying Elementary School, which is making golf training compulsory for students in grades four and five.
