Iran's top leader urges fight on US sanctions

TEHERAN - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Thursday that the nation will defeat the United States over its economic sanctions against Iran.

"Iran's national economy is stronger than US sanctions," Khamenei said in an address to Basij (volunteer) forces in Teheran.

"The national economy will defeat the economic sanctions," he said, adding that this will be another "slap on the face of the United States".
