Dazzling, Le Diner en Blanc wows Shanghai again

By Xu Junqian | China Daily | Updated: 2018-10-03 08:21

All-white annual culinary event continues to be a hit with people of all ages, Xu Junqian reports.

White Dew, the 15th solar term of the year according to the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, started this year on Sept 8 and ended on Sept 23. This term is often used by farmers to indicate the beginning of autumn, when temperatures drop and when air vapor condenses to form white dew during the night.

Quite aptly, this year's Le Diner en Blanc in Shanghai - French for "the dinner in white" - took place on Sept 8 as well. Held in one of the city's oldest dockyards that was renovated by acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the event featured hundreds of people dressed in white who indulged in champagne and fine French food, including foie gras.
