Around China

Police have punished a man who demanded doctors at a Nanning hospital provide medical assistance to his pet dog on the morning of Aug 27. Surveillance footage shows the man causing a ruckus at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine at about 4 am when doctors refused to treat the animal, which had minor injuries. The man, who had driven his dog to the hospital, fought with doctors in the emergency department and threatened to kill them if his dog died due to their refusal to treat it. Police took the man in custody, and he was later placed in a detention house for 10 days for disrupting the operation of a hospital.
