Chinese teen caps junior career with girls' singles title in New York
Tennis prodigy Wang Xiyu wrapped up her junior career in brilliant fashion at the US Open on Sunday, raising hopes for a Chinese breakthrough at the Grand Slam level.
In marked contrast to her detached coolness on the court, a visibly nervous Wang smiled and answered every question in perfect English at the post-final media conference in Flushing Meadows, New York, after the 17-year-old beat Clara Burel of France in straight sets to win the girls' singles title.
