Mercedes unveils first fully-electric car

Mercedes-Benz revealed its first fully-electric vehicle, the EQC, at an event in Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday. Under the new product and technology brand EQ, the EQC features an all-new drive system development with compact electric drivetrains at each axle. The model is equipped with a water-cooled onboard charger with a capacity of 7.4 kilowatts, making it suitable for AC charging at home or at public charging stations. The EQC features the innovative multimedia system MBUX-Mercedes-Benz User Experience and EQ optimized navigation and driving modes. Charging current and departure time can also be controlled and set via MBUX.

GAC Honda targets young drivers

Sino-Japanese joint venture GAC Honda's 2018 City model is targeting Chinese young adults with its technology and innovative marketing. At an experience event in Tianjin, the carmaker wowed the audience with its Light Your Mode theme, allowing them to get a closer look at the model's innovative design. GAC Honda has also joined hands with Chinese tech company Xiaomi in an effort to conduct big data-based marketing and thus better promote the model among young people. The City model, with the latest edition launched in June, has been one of the bestselling vehicles for GAC Honda.

Car sales in S.Korea rise on tax cut

Car sales by local automakers in South Korea rose for two straight months on the back of a consumption tax cut, industry data show. Five domestic carmakers, Hyundai, Kia, GM Korea, Renault Samsung and Ssangyong, sold 126,336 vehicles in August, up 4.5 percent from a year earlier. Auto sales in the domestic market grew for the second consecutive month thanks to the launch of new models and the tax cut. Hyundai Motor, the country's largest automaker, sold 58,582 vehicles in August in the local market, up 7.4 percent from a year ago.
