ULAN BATOR - A culture and tourism promotion event called "Feel China" that aims to strengthen cultural ties between Mongolia and China kicked off at the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery on Wednesday.

Hundreds of specialists from both countries were at the opening ceremony, which was also attended by the Mongolian Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Tsedenbal Tsogzolmaa and Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia Xing Haiming.

"Mongolia and China are long-standing close and friendly neighbors. In recent years, the traditionally friendly relations between our two countries have been enriching in various sectors," Tsogzolmaa said at the ceremony, adding that the event shows that relations between the two countries are growing stronger.

"China and Mongolia are good neighbors and good partners. During the state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Mongolia in 2014, our two countries upgraded their bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership," Xing said.

Since then, relations and cooperation between the two countries have been developing rapidly in a wide range of areas, he said.

"China and Mongolia share a border stretching 4,710 kilometers. China-Mongolia cooperation has bright prospects and great potential," the Chinese ambassador said.

He believes that the "Feel China" event will help strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

During the event which lasts till Saturday, a number of activities will be held, including cultural performances, tourism promotion activities as well as exhibitions on China's poverty alleviation efforts, traditional Chinese embroidery, and traditional medicine of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
