Tencent Foundation supporting public welfare

Tencent Foundation, the charitable platform set up by Shenzhen-based internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd, will give about 400 million yuan ($58.5 million) this year to promote public welfare, as it celebrates the annual online charity day on Sept 9.

Of the total, nearly 300 million yuan will go to its fund as matching donations, which means if the public donates one yuan, the foundation will also donate one yuan.

The remaining 100 million yuan will be used to help Chinese charity organizations to grow.
