Khan sworn in as prime minister
Cricket star-turned-politician Imran Khan was sworn in as prime minister on Saturday at the President House in the capital city. President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath for Khan, who assumed office as the 22nd prime minister of the country. Khan, 65, started his political career by establishing his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, or the Movement for Justice, in 1996. His party ruled northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from 2013 to 2018.

Company donates to Brexit vote fund
The co-founder of fashion brand Superdry is donating 1 million pounds ($1.28 million) to the campaign for a referendum on the final Brexit agreement as Britain prepares to outline in more detail how a no-deal outcome would work. "I'm putting some of my money behind the People's Vote campaign because we have a genuine chance to turn this around," said Julian Dunkerton, a "remainer" who opposes Britain's planned departure from the European Union.
Parliament crash suspect charged
A driver whose car collided with several people before crashing outside Britain's Parliament has been charged with attempted murder, police in London said on Saturday. The 29-year-old suspect faces two charges - trying to kill police officers, and trying to kill members of the public. Three people were injured when Khater, a British citizen originally from Sudan, hit a group of cyclists before colliding with security outside Parliament on Tuesday.

Probe begins into turtle deaths
Officials are investigating the deaths of more than 100 endangered sea turtles in a sanctuary in the south of the country, the government said on Saturday. A total of 113 turtles were found dead between July 24 and Aug 13 in the Puerto Arista sanctuary in the municipality of Tonala in Chiapas state, according to an official statement. Experts have posited that asphyxiation, fish hooks or harmful algae may have been responsible.
