Vintage plane crashes in Alps
Twenty people died after a vintage World War II aircraft crashed into a Swiss mountainside, police said Sunday. "The police have the sad certainty that the 20 people aboard perished," police spokeswoman Anita Senti told a news conference. The Junker JU52 HB-HOT, built in Germany in 1939, crashed into the Piz Segnas mountain in the east of the country on Saturday.

52 militants killed in Sinai - report
Egyptian troops and security forces have killed at least 52 suspected militants in recent days, the army said in a statement on Sunday, as authorities push ahead with an operation to crush the Islamic State group. The deaths brings to more than 300 the number of suspected Islamist militants killed in the operation that the Egyptian army, backed by police and other security forces, launched in February.

Army confirms US refugee proposal
Russia's army on Saturday confirmed it sent a letter to the United States last month with a proposal to cooperate on rebuilding Syria and repatriating refugees. The Russian army's chief of staff General Valery Gerasimov sent a letter to the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford saying Moscow was willing to cooperate with Washington in demining the war-torn country and helping refugees return to their homes.

150 migrants found in truck
About 150 Central American migrants, including 62 children, were found inside the back of trailer when the vehicle was stopped at a highway checkpoint in the southeastern state of Tabasco, the Mexican government said on Saturday.
