Angler rescued from bridge pier

A man in his 30s who was washed 50 meters downstream while fishing in a flooded river in Guanghan on July 15 was rescued after he climbed onto a bridge pier. Witnesses reported the incident to firefighters at 9:03 am after they spotted the man stranded on a pier of Xiaohan township's Shitingjiang bridge. A fire truck carrying five firefighters arrived at the scene with life vests, ropes and other rescue equipment. The man was rescued at 9:20 am by a firefighter who was lowered from the bridge and lifted him to safety.
