High-rise waterfall divides residents

Around China

A 108-meter-tall artificial waterfall on the outside of a skyscraper in Guiyang has sparked debate among residents. The waterfall, on a 121-meter-high building that opened in the city's business district on July 20, has become a tourist attraction. Some people said it has helped raise the city's image, but others described it as a waste of energy and water. The cost of powering the artificial waterfall has been estimated at 800 yuan ($120) an hour.
