New finds shed light on early man's migration - or do they?

The story of prehistoric man is a matrix of theories connecting a sparse body of evidence, usually scraps of fossils or artifacts.

Each new piece of evidence should help fill in the story, not make it more complicated, right?

That's why the new headline - "Discovery in China Hints that Human-like Species left Africa 250,000 Years Earlier than Suspected" - had me scratching my head.
