Red Cross backs rescue efforts

The 999 Emergency Center, a unit under the Beijing Red Cross Foundation, helped support local government rescue efforts following heavy rains in Miyun district in Beijing on Sunday. Following rainstorms, more than 300 rural residents living in Shicheng county were stranded, many of whom were elderly and children. The 999 Emergency Center reacted quickly, sending seven vehicles and two helicopters to the area to support local government rescue efforts. So far, more than 100 people have been transferred to safe areas.
