Researchers combat livestock emissions

Meat and dairy industries may overtake those from engines

Improved technology and awareness of pollution mean that, in recent years, the worldwide transport industry has become cleaner and greener, but researchers are now warning that cows - rather than vehicles - could soon be the chief causes of climate change.

Figures from the United Nations show that livestock is responsible for 14.5 percent of global emissions, which is roughly the same as transport.
