China's women's rugby sevens squad achieved its goal after finishing in 12th place at the World Cup Sevens here on Saturday, according to team manager Jia Jipo.
"The result of the game matched the performance of our team as the 12th seed after we qualified for the tournament by eliminating South Africa 31-14 in the final of the Hong Kong Sevens in April," Jia said after watching his squad drop the 11th-place match 38-0 to Fiji.
Jia pointed out the physical differences between Chinese and foreign players, noting that Team China is focused on refined ball skills and fluid movement to counter Western teams' physical advantages.
