Transparency can help ease panic over vaccine scandal

The State Drug Administration's statement on July 15 that Changchun Changsheng Bio-tech Company had fabricated the production records for its human rabies vaccine caused millions of people to panic as vaccines may be a matter of life and death.

After the SDA's announcement, Changsheng apologized for its deeds, saying it had suspended all production of its rabies vaccine. Yet a public apology is far from enough to iron out people's distrust of the entire industry and the related mechanism, which has been contaminated by scandals.

But the company is already being fined over substandard production, uncovered in 2017, of its DPT vaccine.
