He may be the best player in baseball, but when it comes to popularity, Mike Trout is nowhere near the likes of LeBron James, Tom Brady or Cristiano Ronaldo.

But while Major League Baseball's failure to market the Los Angeles Angels star is commonly cited as a major reason for that popularity gap, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is pointing the finger in another direction.
