Art: Creating a universe of salt, sugar and plastic
Yuan Sima, an artist in Beijing, has taken on a bold mission, creating a series of paintings that look like fragments of an abstract universe. The materials she used for the works are unusual - household items such as salt, sugar and plastic bags. Art critic Rasko Radovic said Yuan uses her eye as a sensitive instrument. Her creations are featured at the Shang Ba Art Gallery in Beijing, shining with tangled lines, contrasting colors and indescribable patterns. The exhibition will run until July 20.

Society: Qingdao to host annual beer festival
The 28th Qingdao International Beer Festival will be held from July 20 to Aug 26 in Qingdao, Shandong province.
