University canteen offers a menu in study

Students at Henan University of Economics and Law, in Zhengzhou, Henan province, have a recipe for exam success. Instead of studying at the crowded library, with its long admission lines, they opted to hit the books at the university canteen. The canteen has one great advantage, they can recite their work loudly rather than in the hushed tones required for the library. Also, food is close at hand!

Letter inspires godfather to battle cancer

Wei Minjia wrote a poem to encourage his godfather, Jiang Hansheng, in his battle to beat cancer at a hospital in Hunan province. "Dad, don't be afraid. You said that you have planted the ground, were a soldier holding guns before, and have done lots of things. Nothing could strike you down ..." The poem moved Jiang to tears, and he replied in a 3,000-word letter: "My dear godson, I am not afraid of anything," it said. "I am ready to fight for another 5 to 10 years."

Encouraging children benefits them, speaker says

It's better to encourage children than praise them, according to a lecture given at TEDxXiguan. Encouragement gives them inspiration and they will work harder and develop their own opinions, the speaker said. When they achieve good results, let children evaluate themselves and enhance their sense of value and self-actualization, the speaker added.
