JPMorgan sets up healthcare social worker program

By Shi Jing in Shanghai | China Daily | Updated: 2018-06-21 07:25

Global financial services firm JPMorgan announced a healthcare social worker training program at the beginning of June that aims to address labor shortages in China's healthcare industry.

The program is being conducted in cooperation with Beijing-based Ai You Foundation - the first private foundation registered in China engaged in child healthcare, child welfare and venture philanthropy. Participants in the program will receive systematic training to obtain necessary skills and a better understanding of healthcare social work. Qualified participants will be offered internships and even job opportunities in hospitals and organizations.

The healthcare social worker program in China is one of JPMorgan's philanthropic initiatives to enhance workforce readiness, boost small businesses, and create new opportunities for young people and disadvantaged groups. To date, the financial company has helped 160,000 people in China through such initiatives. It is investing more than $350 million to support demand-driven skill training around the world, according to Mark Leung, CEO of JPMorgan China.
