Volunteers cue the music on streets of NY

By Judy Zhu in New York | China Daily | Updated: 2018-06-06 07:20

Eileen Kinberg, who has been playing piano at home for almost 60 years, is showing off her skills on city streets this summer.

"It's fantastic. The pianos are out in public, and they go to schools and hospitals. It gives us music when people really need it," said Kinberg, who is also a volunteer with Sing for Hope, a nonprofit organization that signs up musicians to play at Mount Sinai Hospital on 101st Street in Manhattan.

Starting on Monday and continuing to June 24, Sing for Hope began filling New York City's parks and public spaces with artist-designed pianos.
