ID theft prevents bride from marrying

A woman, surnamed Chen, was barred from marrying her fiance after it was discovered another woman had used her ID card to wed. Chen learned at a marriage registration office in Wuhan on May 27 that she was on record as having married a man surnamed Gan, two years earlier in her hometown in Sichuan province. When Chen contacted Ganwhom she had never met - he told her he had wed a woman, surnamed Xia, who illegally used an ID card Chen had lost to register their union. Chen was told she now needs court approval if she wants to change her marital status.
