Zheng, Wang crash out

Before Wang Qiang stunned Venus Williams in the American veteran's 21st appearance at the French Open, two other Chinese failed to pass the first hurdle at Roland Garros on Sunday.

Zheng Saisai lost her opening match to doubles specialist Ekaterina Makarova of Russia 6-4, 6-1 and Wang Yafan also bowed out from the clay Grand Slam with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Croatian Petra Martic.

Zheng built a 2-0 lead early in the match, before Makarova, a three-time Grand Slam doubles winner, improved her hitting accuracy to take four games in a row.
