By Zhang Yan | China Daily | Updated: 2018-05-17 07:20

China has increased the compensation standard for people who were wrongfully convicted and sent to prison.

The Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate issued a notice on Wednesday to raise compensation to 284.74 yuan ($45) per day, an increase of 10 percent over the previous level.

According to the SPP, if prosecuting departments and the courts make wrongful accusations or convictions that result in an improper detention, compensation will be paid.
