This Day, That Year
Editor's Note: This year marks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up policy.
In 1988, Longfu Emporium, then the biggest modern department store in Beijing, opened to customers. Its eight-story building, with six for business, covered 20,000 square meters.
It has witnessed the ups and downs of the physical retailers in the past decades.
