Li extends role as Wuhan ambassador

WUHAN - Retired tennis superstar Li Na has extended her ambassadorial role with her hometown Wuhan Open until 2019.

The two-time Grand Slam champion was first appointed to the post in 2016, and has signed a two-year contract extension to continue working with the WTA Premier 5 tournament in the central Chinese city.

"Li Na has made extraordinary contributions to promoting Wuhan internationally as a city of tennis and a tourist destination," the Wuhan Open organizing committee said in a statement.
