SHANGHAI - Parks in big Chinese cities are popular venues for pushy parents to hunt for suitable spouses for their children, who are too busy or too slow to find love.

But Chinese young people are asserting themselves, avoiding arranged marriages and choosing their own partners.

For the rising generation, happiness cannot be found through formulaic descriptions printed on A4 paper (occasionally laminated) that parents post to advertise their offspring.
