Kindergarten teacher detained on suspicion of abuse

A kindergarten teacher in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, was detained on Tuesday on suspicion of physically abusing at least five children, police in the city's Xuanwu district said.

Video footage from the kindergarten showed the teacher, identified by her surnamed Yu, dragging, slapping and striking children with her knees since April. It also showed that she threw a pillow over a child's face as he was sleeping in bed.

The private kindergarten, Aijia Mutong, is in the district's Xiaolingwei community. Founded in 2014, it is under supervision of community officials. It has four teachers to take care of more than 20 children.
