Death toll up to 6 after Alps storm

A sixth person has died after a group of 14 skiers were caught up in a storm, police said on Tuesday, after the bodies of two climbers were also found elsewhere in the Swiss Alps. Police said efforts were under way to formally identify the victims. All the families had been informed, police added.

Fresh charges for ex-president Lula

Brazil's chief prosecutor on Monday recommended fresh corruption charges against former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. It also accused his finance minister Antonio Palocci and planning minister Paulo Bernardo, and Senator Gleisi Hoffmann in the case, which revolves around payments from Odebrecht company.

WhatsApp founder to quit over privacy

The co-founder of WhatsApp, a messaging service owned by Facebook Inc with more than 1 billion daily users, said on Monday he was leaving the company after clashing with the parent company over attempts to weaken its encryption, the Washington Post reported.
