Society: River ferry drops its final anchor after 100 years

After serving passengers for over 100 years, a State-owned ferry in Chengdu, Sichuan province, ended service on Sunday. The ferry connected a number of villages and towns, and transported tens of thousands of passengers living on the banks of the Tuojiang River. The service has been free since 2013. A bridge spanning the river opened last year.
