FAW-Volkswagen opens Q plant

FAW-Volkswagen inaugurated its Audi Q plant in Changchun in northeastern Jilin province on Thursday. The plant, the result of a 6.4 billion yuan ($1 billion) investment, is the most advanced Audi plant globally and is designed to produce 600 high-quality Audi models a day, according to senior executives at the joint venture. The facility employs 2,400 workers and also uses 510 robots at its welding and paint workshops. Audi sold a record 595,288 vehicles in China last year, up 1.1 percent year-on-year.

Volvo China Open offers hefty prize

The 24th Volvo China Open will offer total prize money of 20 million yuan ($3.2 million). This year's Volvo China Open also sees MiTime Group come in as the new co-promoter. MiTime is owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which is also the owner of Volvo Cars. The event, to be held for the third consecutive year at Beijing's Topwin Golf and Country Club, tees off on April 26. Defending champion Alexander Levy, six-time Professional Golfers' Association European Tour winner Joost Luiten, and four-time PGA European Tour winner Bernd Wiesberger are among competing players.

Pre-orders for Changan DS 7

Changan PSA has started taking preorders for its all-new DS7 SUV, offered at prices ranging from 213,900-314,900 yuan ($34,060-$50,140) for its five variations. Although rated a compact model, its 4.6-meter length and 2.74-meter wheelbase makes it closer to that of a mid-size vehicle. The model has 133 kilowatt and 162 kW engine versions with a 8-speed automatic transmission. The latest local flagship model features DS Active LED Vision that comes alive and can rotate 180 degrees the moment the car is unlocked. It comes equipped with technologies including night vision, active suspension, an advanced driving assistant system, and automatic cruise control.

Marketing shift for FAW Toyota

FAW Toyota has launched a revamped marketing catchphrase, "New Lifestyle Aesthetic" that highlights the Sino-Japanese automaker's thorough upgrades in branding, products, and sales, together with an "Embrace with Customers" service campaign. FAW Toyota has announced it will focus on delivering a splendid mobility experience. The company's Toyota Corolla has now upgraded, both on the outside and inside, with intelligent technologies equipped in the three variants available on the market.
