China Daily | Updated: 2018-03-29 07:25

ALL THE subway stations in Beijing are to be equipped with devices on their entry gates that can scan a QR code on passengers' phones, which is expected to speed up passenger flows. Economic Daily commented:

It is reported that about 45 percent of the gate machines in the capital's subway stations have the devices installed, and it is expected that all the capital's subway stations will have them soon.

The Beijing subway's average daily passenger volume exceeds 10 million, and about 700,000 people line up to purchase a subway ticket at subway stations every day, which can cause congestion in the concourses at peak times.
