Xie to lead Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

Xie Fuzhan, former Party secretary of Henan province, has been appointed president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, according to a statement on the academy's website on Thursday.

The appointment was made public one day after Xie left his position in Henan. Wang Guosheng, former Party secretary of Qinghai province, has replaced Xie as Henan's Party secretary.

Xie, 63, is a native of Tianmen in Hubei province. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1974.
