Society: New think tank lays foundation for building sector

An institute focused on the innovation and development of the construction industry was established on Friday at Tongji University, Shanghai, and is expected to become one of the top think tanks for the sector. The Center of Innovation and Development in Construction, which was created following calls by the central government to achieve sustainable development in the industry, will be responsible for driving change in management, methodology and solutions related to the sector. "China's construction sector has had a limited adoption of innovation and modern technology," said Wu Zhiqiang, vice-president of Tongji University. "It is time for industrial experts from universities and corporations to take a more proactive role in the transformation of the industry."
