Highlights of speeches by CPPCC National Committee members

China should guide regions along the Silk Road Economic Belt to develop in line with local conditions through regional coordination. The country should prioritize development of the northwestern area as a whole and optimize its industrial layout based on local conditions. Provinces should also strengthen cooperation in building fixed freight distribution centers to better allocate cargo transported on China-Europe freight trains.
Li Huidong, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, CPPCC National Committee member

Tackling China's smog problem for good requires an improved energy structure, industrial layout and technology, and considerable socioeconomic costs. Although strong winds can blow away the smog, human efforts are the real solution to the problem. The central and local governments should focus on emission reduction through efficient energy use to address heavy air pollution in the winter. It is a long-term process and requires ongoing efforts.
