Charity funds set up by the young

Two boys in Nanjing, together with their grandmother, who is surnamed Ni, donated 10,000 yuan ($1,576) and founded a charity fund named after them at Nanjing Charity Foundation on the first workday after the Spring Festival. In 2009, Nanjing became the first city in China to promote charitable foundations named after their sponsors. So far, more than 500 people have founded their own charitable funds, donating more than 10,000,000 yuan at the foundation. "Kids today are not short of food and clothing. It is important that they learn to care about others and be grateful," Ni said.
