Mexico misery for Li

China Daily | Updated: 2018-03-04 08:27

China's Li Haotong endured a miserable second round at the World Golf Championship-Mexico Championships on Friday, firing a 79 to drop to the bottom of the leaderboard.

The 22-year-old had been hoping to make an impression in his WGC debut but a double bogey, seven bogeys and a lone birdie from four feet on the 16th hole, saw him reach the halfway mark on a 10-over total of 152 - joint-last with Australian Brett Rumford and a whopping 21 shots off Shubhankar Sharma's lead.

Like Li, India's Sharma is also a WGC debutant but his performance couldn't have been more different, with a superb 5-under 66 sending him two shots clear of American Xander Schauffele (68) and Spanish pair Rafa Cabrera Bello (67) and Sergio Garcia (65).
