272 maritime rescues completed

China's Coast Guard participated in 272 maritime rescue operations in 2017, coming to the aid of 62 ships and saving 425 people. The coast guard said it also conducted patrols to safeguard China's maritime rights, with total voyages of nearly 1.9 million kilometers last year. The patrols covered all maritime areas under China's jurisdiction, as well as the western Pacific and Indian Ocean, according to the Coast Guard.
