Data show drop in holiday trips

Some 732 million journeys were made in the first 10 days of the Spring Festival travel rush, down 3.31 percent from the same period last year, the Transport Ministry said on Sunday.

The annual 40 day travel peak around Chinese New Year runs from Feb 1 to March 12 this year.

As of Saturday, 618 million trips were made by public bus, 89.29 million trips by railway, 16 million by air and 8.9 million by boat, the ministry said.
