Port inspection and quarantine authorities across China found 6,941 confirmed flu cases among inbound passengers in December and January, an increase of 81.9 percent over December 2016 and January 2017, China's top authority for entry-exit inspection and quarantine said on Friday.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine also warned tourists bound for many countries in the Northern Hemisphere, where flu infections have been high since winter last year, to take precautionary measures such as receiving vaccines before leaving.
With the arrival of the Spring Festival holiday and winter vacations for schools, an increasing number of Chinese will travel overseas, the administration said.
