Teen celebrity calls for quality education

By Zhang Ruinan at The United Nations | China Daily | Updated: 2018-02-02 07:57

Popular Chinese singer-actor Wang Yuan pledged on Wednesday to promote high quality education for every young person worldwide, as well as push for sustainable development goals, he said at a forum in New York.

It's the second time that Wang, a member of the well-known Chinese boy band TFBOYS, was invited to the UN youth forum as a special advocate for education by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund. "In my role as UNICEF Special Advocate for Education, I've seen for myself how education is a key factor in building happy, confident and resilient children," Wang said. "However not all children can access quality education and it saddens me that there is still this massive inequality in the world today," Wang added.

"This year, I think I have a more comprehensive understanding of quality education because I participated in many socially empowering projects last year," Wang told China Daily on Tuesday.
