SOEs leading way in CSR initiatives
State-owned enterprises (SOEs) are making rapid progress in developing their social responsibility practices, according to a report released last Thursday by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
The CASS report analyzed 101 central SOEs and various facets of their corporate social responsibility operations, or CSR, between August and November 2017.
According to the report, SOEs in general have gotten the operation, management and appraisal system of their CSR works off the ground. Statistics in the report indicate that 76 percent of central SOEs have established management teams to run their CSR operations. Seventeen percent plan to set up their management group and 7 percent have no plans for picking a group to lead their CSR operations.
