Authorities monitor ports of entry as workers return from infected area

The risk of the ongoing plague being transmitted from Madagascar to China will rise as large numbers of Chinese workers return from the African country for the Spring Festival holiday, which this year falls in mid-February, authorities said on Tuesday.

China's port authorities have been closely monitoring the plague in Madagascar and have taken measures to prevent the disease from entering the country. So far, no case has been reported in China, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
