Jaguar XEL drives luxury beyond the possible into the imagination

Pursuing the essence of dynamics, renowned British auto brand Jaguar's unsurpassed all-new XEL sports sedan is redefining high performance handling, while driving beyond luxurious comfort.

Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Co announced its all-new Jaguar XEL's global launch in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province on Dec 15, and leading movie actor and singer William Chan from Hong Kong was on hand at the ceremony to ensure the excitement stayed high-octane.

After giving a rousing performance of his hit song Meant to be Unique, the Jaguar brand spokesman handed over to a lucky owner the first of 100 units of a limited edition of the XEL, which were pre-ordered.

Promising an excellent deluxe experience, sporty handling and advanced technology, the all-new Jaguar XEL is tailored to a trendier and younger generation of owner, for a top driving and riding experience.

"The launch of the all-new Jaguar XEL is another milestone in the development of Chery Jaguar Land Rover in China," said Chris Chen, deputy president of Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Co.

"It not only further improves and adds to the Jaguar brand in China's luxury car market, but also brings leading technology and products to more Chinese consumers," he continued.

The launch of the all-new Jaguar XEL not only demonstrates Chery Jaguar Land Rover's comprehensive corporate strength, but also represents its decisive move into China's premium automotive segment.

The company said it is adhering to its superb global standards, pure British quality and intelligent style in understanding the true demands of today's Chinese market, and the new products are designed with state-of-the-art technology to meet customer expectations.

"The target customers are a group of younger passionate Chinese people who desire a high-quality in life," Chen said.

"Our market segment is highly competitive, and we have to satisfy buyers who have very high expectations about product attractiveness."

Thanks to its precise positioning and the compelling looks of four locally manufactured models, Chery Jaguar Land Rover has realized significant business achievements and in its market performance over the past year.

After achieving sales of 10,269 units, translating to 25.5 percent year-on-year growth in December, the joint venture recorded total deliveries of 83,888 units for the full year in China, 35.2 percent more than in 2016.

The local models that sport Jaguar and Land Rover badges contributed about 60 percent to the dual brands' total China sales volume in 2017, an extraordinary milestone reached five years after Chery Jaguar Land Rover joined the luxury car race in the Chinese market.

Un-surpassed sportiness

The all-new Jaguar XEL carries on the pure brand's sporting traditions. With fresh dynamic technology and aluminum architecture on a sports car-caliber chassis, it fully demonstrates Jaguar's unparalleled art of performance.

The sedan is powered by the advanced Ingenium 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from Jaguar Land Rover, tied in to an 8-speed automatic transmission delivering a more robust, efficient, smooth driving experience.

The all-new Jaguar XEL is the only model in its segment equipped with intelligent aluminum architecture. Advanced forming materials and technologies are integrated into the latest model, while handling performance is optimized.

Without sacrificing internal space, the all-new Jaguar XEL achieves an agile handling performance and also maintains an elegant figure, thanks to a 50:50 front-back weight distribution.

The new model is equipped with a sportscar-caliber chassis and double wishbone suspension system sourced from the Jaguar F-TYPE, enhancing the overall body stability. Through systematic refining and fine tuning, it delivers a rich driving experience and delicate sporty handling.

With precise and agile steering, and a torque vector allocation system utilizing track technology, the vehicle can stay relaxed and stable through cornering, allowing drivers to enjoy more.

The new model impressively performs in its 200PS version, achieving a fuel efficiency of 6.7 liters after running 100 kilometers.

Luxurious experience

The all-new Jaguar XEL further enriches the luxurious commitment of the vehicle, through innovative technologies and deluxe configurations for drivers and riders, to enjoy a better-than-expected technical experience.

The all-new Jaguar XEL is equipped with unique 12.3-inch TFT multifunction LCD instrumentation, which is visually impactful and exclusive in its class.

The center console features a seamless and fluidly responsive 10.2-inch touchscreen, whose operation is as convenient as an iPad. The two-sided screen display can satisfy the needs of drivers and passengers.

The built-in inControl Touch Pro infotainment system - with its powerful navigation functions and its premium remote control functionality - allows the driver to power the engine, AC and unlock doors via their Apple and Android devices.

The 4G Wi-Fi hotspot can provide network connectivity to as many as 8 devices simultaneously, to connect them with the world.

The all-new Jaguar XEL has a class-leading wheelbase length of 2,935 millimeters, leaving an additional 112 mm leg-room and an additional 100 mm knee-room comfort for rear passengers, without compromising the outstanding proportions and seductive lines.

In addition, the panoramic roof allows additional natural light to illuminate the extra room in the rear seats.

While on the road, the Meridian audio system delivers an unparalleled pure and exquisitely detailed sound quality, with an awe-inspiring sound effect configuration which gives a top-end in-car theater impact.

The auto makers are offering a total of six configurations, including the XEL first edition, with price ranging from 288,800 to 428,800 yuan ($45,515 to $67,579).
