In December 1991, Qinshan, China's first nuclear power station, was connected to the power grid. The project began commercial operation in April 1994, making China the seventh country in the world to build and operate nuclear power plants.

China is now a pioneer in the nuclear power sector and has been accelerating its construction of nuclear power plants.
