Nigeria plans burial for victims of herdsmen attacks

China Daily | Updated: 2018-01-11 07:35

ABUJA - Nigeria has begun a three-day mourning ahead of the mass burial of 71 people killed in violence allegedly perpetrated by herdsmen in the state of Benue.

A mass burial was scheduled to be held on Thursday for the victims of the attack in Logo and Guma communities in Benue, said Terve Akase, a government spokesman.

The violence between herders and farmers intensified over the New Year, fueled by a new law banning the nomadic cattle herders from moving through the state.
