French President to begin first state visit to China next week

French President Emmanuel Macron will pay a state visit to China from Jan 8 to 10 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang announced Tuesday. It will be Macron's first state visit to China. Xi and Macron, who took office in May, have spoken twice by phone and met in Hamburg, Germany, during the G20 Summit last year.
