Reforms introduced by Shenzhen Customs help give city a boost
Shenzhen Customs has introduced reforms to cut the clearance procedures and costs for the foreign trading companies, in an effort to improve the city's business environment.
According to its statistics, the imports and exports of Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, surged by 7.4 percent year-on-year to reach 2.48 trillion yuan ($377.1 billion) in the first 11 months of 2017, accounting for nearly 10 percent of the total value of the country's imports and exports.
Exports increased by 6.5 percent year-on-year to reach 1.47 trillion yuan during this period, ranking first among Chinese cities. Shenzhen has worn this position since 1993. "Cross-border and cross-boundary trading is an important part of the city's business environment, which has benefited from the convenience of importing and exporting goods," said Wang Zuoqiang, a senior Shenzhen Customs official.
