Work on high-speed rail section to start in Thailand

Construction of a section of the Thailand-China railway, a high-speed line designed to connect southern China to Thailand's industrial eastern coast via Laos, will begin on Thursday, according to the State Railway of Thailand. The 253-kilometer line stretches from Bangkok to the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima. It will also be Thailand's first standard-gauge railway to use Chinese technology and equipment, which will allow trains to operate at a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour.
